Creating Continuity With Granite Countertops
In most homes one of the hardest design elements to accomplish is the feeling of continuity. This design feature creates a sense that things “connect.” It’s not as easy to accomplish as you might think. The luxurious features that almost all granite countertops have, can help you make the most, even if you purchased discount appliances. It will still all look amazing together in the kitchen.Granite is that one elements that can help you make a luxury statement even when you save money on all of your home purchases.

Why So Many People Choose Granite Countertops
Anyone who has bought or renovated a house has participated in at least one conversation about granite countertops. The reason is that many interior designers and homeowners prefer granite countertops as their go-to first choice in the kitchen. Why are so many people impressed with granite? Well, part of the answer lies in the transformation process that the granite slabs endure in order to become countertops.
Granite countertops begin as a natural stone. This means that granite slabs that are cut, create a unique look for each one. No two are identical. In a world where so many industries are using industrial machinery to copy and paste identical products, uniqueness is becoming the quality to aspire to.
In addition to the beauty and unique elements of the granite, its durability plays a factor as well. The material is largely able to handle the burden of being an active surface without sustaining much damage.
Taking that step and ordering a granite countertop says a lot about the person. The will to be unique and have a unique piece of furniture at your home could mean that you do not concede to mediocracy. You are unique, and your countertop should reflect that as well.

Granite Varieties: The World’s Largest Monoliths
Stone, especially the many granite varieties that exist, are precious. Because granite is so hard, it is very practical too. So for the connoisseur, there is practicality and beauty to be discovered in granite varieties.
Some of the most beautiful pieces of granite are monoliths. The monoliths, or exposed single massive stones, in Yosemite National Park are some of the most famous in the United States and El Capitan, pictured above is said to be the largest granite monolith in the world. The Rock of Gibraltar is another famous monolith but it is limestone.
The world’s largest monolith on a coastline is in Brazil, near Rio de Jainero and is called the Pedra da Gavea. It is more than half a mile high at 842 meters and is composed of gneiss and granite.
But Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is the world’s largest monolith and is 1,142 feet high and almost 6 miles in circumference. It is sandstone, however. Aren’t we lucky to have pieces of the stones that form these monoliths in our kitchens as granite countertops?

Choosing the Right Granite Countertop to Match Your Decor
Having granite countertops for your kitchen can really bring class to the overall look. Sometimes it’s all you need to spruce up the entire room and make you feel good while you’re cooking your next meal. But you have to make sure that the color and design is going to match with the theme of your kitchen, especially if you are focusing on specific decor.
For an Asian style kitchen, going for a dark granite, like black or dark gray, will coincide perfectly with your red wood cabinets and silk wall prints. A jade color will also work well, as jade is a common gemstone used in Japanese carvings and and figurines.
Granite works well for Traditional kitchens as well, which take inspiration from the 18th and 19th centuries and have a very elegant style. Granite countertops will easily bring that elegance to your kitchen. Choose a color that contrasts with your wood fixtures, whether darker or lighter.
You’ll also want to consider it for a Modern kitchen. Modern rooms are very clean, simple, and geometric. The straight cuts of a granite countertop will be a perfect addition to your simplistic decor.
Granite has a very versatile look that can match with plenty of decor themes, so look into it for your kitchen renovations.

Granite Countertops are Easy, Choosing Which One…
You knew that redoing the kitchen would be a big deal but you didn’t think it would be such a headache. It wasn’t really. It was just that Lindsay could not decide on a granite countertop and she sure didn’t have any aspirin. You did give her free reign in her destruction and reconstruction of the kitchen. But when she asked your opinion only to disregard it and continue to mull, that was enough.
So after another week of having no kitchen counter you went ahead and called the granite countertop guys to tell them which one you liked and you scheduled an appointment for Saturday. Granted you didn’t tell Lindsay, but she didn’t have to yell at you in front of the granite countertop guys so that they asked should we leave.
But once you put your foot down and said no you gents can stay and I want to choose something since you did the rest, it all became better. She folded and although she’s still kind of mad she didn’t get to choose granite varieties of her own, she’s a big girl and and she’ll get over it. She should be happy with the new refrigerator and stove.

The Effects of Granite Countertops
After you’ve kicked off your shoes, you walk into the kitchen. Grab the small pot, fill it with rice, walk to the sink. As the water soaks the cloudy rice look around. A fine kitchen you have here. Really. These granite countertops were a great investment. Look at how they still shine, how resilient they are. Of course, you take care of them, wash them down every night. You’re glad you chose the black out of all the other granite varieties. Not that the gray was ugly, just, you know, diff’rent strokes for diff’rent folks. Plus the black brings out the hardwood floors.
Rice is clean, time to trim the chicken. Chop, trim, chop. Chicken is pretty gross. But it helps to be cutting it on a luxurious countertop. It seems to lessen the nastiness of the fowl. Thwack, trim, chop. When are you going to redo the master bathroom? It could certainly use some granite countertops. Maybe this summer. It’s great how fitting the granite countertops is so easy. Some measurements and those men come in wielding the heavy stone. And it’s so polished. You can’t believe it took you so long to have granite countertops. Now to choose from the granite varieties for the bathroom…

Ode to Marble Countertops
Sweet marble. You are the saddest stone. Your icy-soft purity beckons us to watch. You resist time in a way we cannot. You harden, grow colder, but never coarser. You last a thousand lifetimes, while we will die all too fast. Under the mountain sky your rest is soft. You are resilient and perfect for daily use. To counter you is to appreciate you, use you. Marble countertop, you are strong.
Before you were quarried, to how many storms were you witness? Aching-hot days? You felt nothing, you simply were. In the kitchen how many spills can you withstand, you luxurious stone, ancient and weathered with your dark veins of prescience?
How base of you to discount desire, temptation! Would you trade your centuries of plenitude for one of our chance-filled lifetimes? Would you understand love if you could? Alas, you are stone ideal for the bathroom vanity. You counter our concupiscence, and give us firm ground on which to lean. And I have not a qualm against you for it, dear marble. Should I have chosen one of the granite varieties, I’d be no happier. i surround myself with tokens of immortality; it reduces my arrogance and humbles my being.
